Dr. Devon Almond

With appreciation, I stand for purpose in education, meaning in work, and place in life. It’s such a privilege to guide college-educated seekers on these matters. At the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, I get to teach first-year students, advise dedicated Honors students, and work on an incredibly meaningful educational project: Educating for the Virtues of Attention.

With a fondness for small towns, I have worked—mostly as a faculty member—with geographically remote and rural colleges and universities, spanning from the Yukon to Hawaii and from British Columbia to Pennsylvania. This soul-craft ranges from teenaged undergraduates to doctoral students much older than me!

With gratitude, I am thankful for the transformative learning facilitated by Pacific Integral, Stages International, Purpose Guides Institute, Meridian University, Integral Coaching Canada, Heroic Coaching, and Sloww. I’ve deeply benefited from this programming, which has shaped a life-affirming worldview of work.

With a reverence for the road, I’ve trekked across 49 American states and 11 Canadian provinces/territories in a mobile library (i.e., ~ 200,000 miles of audio books!). The genesis of Toward a New Worldview of Work originates on the road. Nowadays, I live with my wife and daughter in a log cabin in the woods near Chapel Hill, NC.
